Biased? Or was he not?

Hot dry weather! Thirsty dry throats! Everything that could be related to dryness.... The exact way how Kuala Pilah can be described from my very eyes......well oh well.....Kakom N.9 2008 started from the 10th to the 14th of August 2008...and there i was proudly in charge of the football team....proudly assembled through several selection stages through out the few months.
I guess that was a dream come through.....what else could i say....I'd probably turn to football magazines, websites, live matches and many more rather than reading my books....aha...probably not a good example to my students....hehe...

And there i was.....being the next Kevin Keegan...the messiah to bring glory back to Malacca....a known fact is that Malacca has always been one of the contenders for the Gold medal in Football...but its quite sad that we have never won it since.....well well well....If you are a sports fan....winning the gold medal means a lot to us...its like the Spain capturing Euro 2008 after 44 years (i suppose so...) or it would probably be like the drought or curse without a silverware for Newcastle United for almost half a century.

There i go again.....okay back to the Kakom story....The team progressed through the group stages as group A winners. Our ride was not that easy anyway as we drew 2 games against Johor and Kuala Nerang. But the highlight was the win against Labuan...done emphatically against the East Malaysians....with some controversy too. Clearly here, my boys did well and won the game mentally and physically whereby the opposition had different things in mind. Well, i totally understand how it feels to be on the losing side. This particular side i have went through rigorous fitness training schedules in the evenings (which is after class....) and other training schedules through out the preparation stages. It paid off as other teams have players injured on their starting list and we didn't!

It was a case of poor refereeing decisions and goalkeeping errors which led us out door in the semi finals against Penang. Yeah, i guess being a goalkeeper ain't that easy and they actually need the guts and courage to be the last man in line. The referee would also determine the outcome, tempo and progress of a game. I could really understand losing due to goalkeeping errors, but the boys worked well enough to fight back only to be disappointed with poor refereeing decisions.
It all about the game.....learning to accept losing is important to us....and learning to accept decisions is all about the game. I guess the quest for glory continues and it's another year until we land on another chance....
